We are writing to update you of progress on our work to upgrade the traffic signals and crossings on Coppins Bridge and its approaches.
Firstly, as the initial phase of the project nears completion, Island Roads would like to thank motorists for their understanding during work so far.
Work has progressed well and the first phase – installing new energy-efficient lights at the St George’s entrance onto Coppins Bridge are due to be back up and running today (Friday) allowing work to move on to the second phase – the Coppins Bridge / Barton Road pedestrian crossing – on Monday.
This phase lasts until Friday December 3 and will involve temporary pedestrian lights and the carriageway being reduced to two lanes.
After this phase, the project will pause so as not to affect the Christmas shopping period. Work after this phase will include upgrade of the signals in Lower High Street and Coppins Bridge which will mean the Lower High Street will be closed to traffic between January 10 and January 28. We have visited businesses to discuss their individual needs during thus work and will continue to liaise with them. Pedestrian access will be maintained during this work.
We will also provide further updates as the scheme progresses. For your information further details about the phasing of work is contained below.
Once again, many thanks for your assistance so far. We appreciate that at times during the past few days there has been congestion in and around Coppins Bridge and we really do value the understanding and patience shown.
We also have a dedicated web page on our Island Roads website www.islandroads.com which carries additional details about the work.
If you have any questions now or at any time during the project, then please contact email@example.com
