The Isle of Wight Council are the Local Planning Authority who makes the decisions on planning applications. Sometimes applicants are unhappy with the decisions made by the Isle of Wight Council and they can lodge an appeal which is dealt with by the Planning Inspectorate.
The Parish Council makes its recommendations based upon the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), the Local Development Framework known as the Island Plan Core Strategy, material considerations and supplementary planning documents. The Village Design Statement has been adopted by the Isle of Wight Council as a supplementary planning document.
