Merchant Navy Flag Flying 2023

The Merchant Navy Flag was raised in the War Memorial Garden on Saturday 2nd September 2023 & flown over the weekend in honour of Merchant Navy Day on 3rd September 2023.

‘The contribution that seafarers – both past and present – have made to our lives is profound.

Bembridge Parish Council is proud to play a part in recognising this day by flying the Red Ensign.

Seafarers of the Merchant Navy are often unsung, so it is fitting that this annual day causes us to pause & consider their courage & sacrifice, both in conflict & during peacetime’ – Chair of Bembridge Parish Council, Cllr Liz White
